Brad & Katie | 10.31.11

There’s really no other way to begin our post but to tell you that this weekend ... this wedding ... was REALLY about celebrating what God has done in bringing together two extra special people - Brad and Katie.

Funny, I still remember the day Katie and I were sitting on the train bridge (University of the Cumberlands) and she let out the truth of the fact that she had feelings for Brad (a guy we hadn’t seen in almost 2 yrs.) To Katie's surprise, it was no surprise for me! A year earlier, I had felt impressed to begin to pray for my roommate, Katie, and my fellow friend Brad, who was serving as a missionary in Northern Africa.

So, can’t resist beginning with a picture we took two years ago on the occasion when Brad was stateside for a couple of weeks and asked if Kay and I would get a few of he and Katie before his return trip. This will always be one that makes me smile. The girl was "twitterpated!" - Jill

Our entire family traveled to Grand Rivers, Ky for the celebration! What a beautiful little town (population app. 350) between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. Surrounded by water, it was showing off a spectacular outdoor display of all the yellow, orange, and red colors that an October day brings. Took one look at the sailboats moving in and out along the harbor landing across the glistening water and knew right away that Brad and Katie had been right. We had to have a picture there with the entire wedding party! Could not wait!

In welcoming everyone on Friday, these were Brad’s words:
"We have a large wedding party, because we have chosen to invest in our friendships."

It fit! And the whole evening proved that statement true. What an invest of time, energy, and love given in the preparation of the weekend! Couldn't have been a more perfect spot for the rehearsal dinner than on Katie’s family farm with cornstalks and pumpkins lining the driveway, a huge tent with lights that put a sparkle in the cool night, beautiful handmade quilts (by Katie’s grandmother) thrown across hay bales scattered underneath the tent. And Brad’s family ... well, they had assembled a feast fit for a king and queen and their court! So many details highlighted the evening, from the straws in blue mason jars ... to the napkins wrapped with a "blessings" label.

A 7:30 a.m. getting ready time came early!

Waiting. Anticipating that first look at Katie. Beautiful morning! Quiet. Peaceful. It was so neat that Brad chose to have his best man bring Katie to him.

"The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,

To the one who seeks Him."
Lamentations 3:25

This was timeless. No distractions. These moments to focus on just each other began their day.
Emotional? Yes. Amazing!? Yes.

Priceless moments! Katie was stunning. She looked like a princess! And watching Brad take that all in as he twirled her around to get a look at her dress ... wouldn't trade anything for capturing those first moments together! Then in a hilarious move, the groom looks around and exclaims to his best man and photographer (that's me) ... "Would you just look at her! She's gorgeous!" Loved the heightened sound of Brad's voice with that hint of is this real... can this really be happening to me! It was an awesome time for tears, laughter, and great rejoicing.

[In case you are wondering, it’s our personal observation that the bride and groom’s choice to see each other before the wedding ceremony does not in any way take away from the groom watching his bride walk down the aisle. These first look images and moments cannot be caught or experienced during a walk down the aisle amidst a crowd of family and friends.]

These bridesmaids have shared a whole lotta fun during the last five years at UC. I know. (Jill tells me everything!) They even went shopping together - all of them - for Katie’s dress! In addition to the good times together, I also know they have shared some of life's difficult moments together. So glad they are all here together today!

"Friends give full color to our lives."

While I didn’t know but just a few of the groomsmen, I was fairly confident that if the guys were friends of Brad's then they too would be very personable, warm, easy to work with ... :)

The ceremony. Chosen with such commitment to honor the Lord - the One who has brought them together for a lifelong journey.

You hold everything together.

It's official. Mr and Mrs. Brad Bell!

Both Brad and Katie are committed to the small things – the little details that make life rich - like the wedding favors of hand-woven baskets and coasters from Ethiopia brought back especially for their guests. (www.graceforethiopia.org) And the tables accented with burlap. To us it's material. In Africa, it makes up feed sacks forming the bags used in famine relief. Then there were the African baobob trees decorating the reception tables. And around those tables were wonderful relationships with an Ethiopian connection. The highlight of the reception ... the blessing of so many family and friends! Little details that make life rich ... how about the beautiful barnwood frames made by Howard Bell (Brad's dad) for their engagement pictures.

Almost forgot ... the bride, groom, and their wedding party wore TOMS. For every pair of
TOMS purchased, this company gives a free pair to those without shoes.

A new hand to hold, a new heart to love ...

and a new LIFE to lead!

If you are ever wondering what photographers do for fun well here's the answer...we take pictures!!! :) That's just what Kristen and I did on my trip out to California! I walked right off the plane, ate lunch, and then we started shooting! It's always a lot of fun to tag along with other photographers to see how they do things. I so enjoyed meeting this cute couple ... so natural in front of the camera! We had a blast! [Sidenote: You can't tell it from here, but, we were actually in a shopping center! It's amazing all the great photo spots you can find just looking around your own area.]

Morgan & Cari first met each other at church. Certainly entertaining to hear how each of them have different takes on how the story really goes! The beautiful California evening and desert-like setting provided a great night for us to capture their engagement pictures.

Now is the season for 2012 Seniors. Meet Trent! What a natural in front of the camera! [And thorougly enjoyed having his Mom and Dad along.]

Allow us the opportunity to tell you that personally, while we feel it is appropriate for you to bring to a senior session the casual look, don't neglect a more dressy look as well. These are some of our favorites, Trent.

For all of our sessions we try to incorporate things about you...because, well, that's what this is really about, right? :) Yes. So when we received Trent's Senior Survey back, we discovered a couple of things about him.

(Warning: If you play an instrument and bring it along, I will expect you to play!!)

Trent, you have such talent!

I know that for Trent to be such an accomplished swimmer, it takes great personal discipline. And as you can see from the medals, he certainly has some achievements to show for that. You don't have to be around Trent very long to realize what a genuine, humble spirit he possesses.

Funniest thing - just as we were taking a last few shots, we had an intruder. Cutest little puppy! :)

And, here at our house, we have all said that this last one is one of our favorites! No question about it!

"Wait, what did you just say?!"

We said, "You can go!"

"To California??" I responded.

"Yes!!" said Mom and Dad.

If you were in my house, you might have heard this conversation a few months back. :) Two years ago, I met Kristen Booth at an Internship in Nashville. The two of us, along with fellow photographers Megan and Shannon had a fantastic week and have been friends ever since!! Such a great experience! I have been wanting to fly out to California and spend a week with Kristen, but the parental units hadn't said yes, yet...well they finally did!! So I called Kristen, booked my flight, and there you go. :)

Early Sunday morning (4:30 a.m. to be exact) I woke up and headed off to the airport. My flights were a bit...eh...interesting on the way there, but before I knew it, I was in California! When I walked off the plane, I could immediately see the beauty of California - a fantastic reminder of why I love to travel and see new places. First thing we did a photo session. Well of course! More from that later. Check out my first sunset!! (I was told this doesn't happen very often.)

Wednesday was the big sightseeing day. Off to LA early that morning. First stop, the Griffith Observatory. What a fantastic view of the city!

You are now on Hollywood Blvd. And take note we found our favorite award!! :)

Santa Monica beach was a favorite! We had the best time "people watching." Oh the things you see and learn when you just watch people!! And you also come away with some funny stories. :)

The next pictures are from my last evening in California. Kristen and I went to the dessert to do some new pictures of me! One thing I didn't expect to see were the mountains. They were everywhere! And gorgeous :) Such a peaceful last night. I didn't want to leave, but now I have a reason to return.

Kay Lynn came down to visit me last week - [Univ. of the Cumberlands] - and we had one of those dreary days. However, I happen to sometimes like those dreary days, because the clouds roll right down onto the mountains and look like they're so close you could almost climb right up into them. So I took Kay down the road to have a look at some of my favorite spots. They are beautiful on a normal day, but on this particular day, I was even more blown away by the color and feel of the mountains.

I kept stopping and pulling off alongside the road. Kay just went with it... from the comfort and safety of the car that is.

"'For even if the mountains walk away
and the hills fall to pieces,

Brett & Lindsey | London Wedding | 8.25.11

From the time we began downloading and backing up pictures, we could not WAIT to show you some scenes from this day. Have you ever seen one of these at someone’s door? You know, the kind that says ... “Welcome”. We just want you to know we felt it. From start to finish. And after the privilege of spending the day with the Martin and Jones families, there’s no doubt that you too would have been included in that welcome. Such warmth and kindness and hospitality. Thank you Brett and Lindsey for sharing your home, your families, and your friends for the day! It was a joy!

The start of the day. Beautiful sunshine. Then those first dark clouds began to gather. We always know that’s a possibility. It wasn’t just a drizzle. How about torrential rain. Notice our bride. First, at the patio door. Then, the front window. Now, finally on http://www.weatherchannel.com/.

If this tree could talk, I wonder the stories it would tell! We have it on good authority that Brett spent many hours and many adventures out here. From our vantage point you could even see some of his "leftover building supplies" at the base of the tree. What a perfect place for pictures waiting for that first look at his bride!

We have so been WAITING for this. For a bride and groom to choose to do a "first look." Such a special moment when Lindsey stood waiting for Brett to turn around. No pressure. No one waiting on them to get done with pictures. But instead, just an opportunity for them to share in the excitement of each other and what the day ahead held. Probably the greatest part of all was their reactions towards each other. No one was more excited than we were to know we had the details of those first memorable moments.

Thought how great it was that the girls enjoyed making their own bouquets together!

SERIOUSLY?! Brett. The bride usually throws the bouquet. But, it’s your wedding!

You almost wonder if there has been some sort of arrangement to this marriage? I'm just sayin'.

This was one of those wedding ceremonies where it was hard not to tear up. So many special moments with family. Sincere evidence of their love for the Lord and desire to seek after Him. Heartfelt vows written and spoken by two - Brett and Lindsey - who truly treasure each other.

Coming in the door at the reception, I caught sight of this. Such anticipation. Waiting for Brett and Lindsey so the party can begin!

To tell you that there was a huge spirit of celebration surrounding the reception is an understatement! Wow! We watched Lindsey and Brett's lives touch every individual there, from young to old. This was their time to enjoy with EVERYONE! (Should we tell you that the place was rockin’! You could not even hear the thunderstorms outside. That's right, rain again!)

Light those sparklers. Who cares about the rain!

And since we're a day late on getting your wedding preview uploaded, how about one more. A favorite!

Brad & Katie [ENGAGED!] | 8.23.11

He's crazy. She's weird. They're gettin' married. 'Nuff said. Just kidding. :) I can say these things cause she's my roommate - and it's my blog! [You're probably wishing Mom were writing this aren't you!]

Talk about a man with a plan. Brad is that man. He pulled up to the session with a duffel bag full of props and surprises to use for their pictures.

Crazy about these next two, Katie and Brad!

Katie may be my roomate, but I was pulling for Brad!

We liiiiike SECRETS! And we had one! Brad had shared that he wanted to reenact his January proposal to Katie. [With one little surprise detail.] Thus he began with a story and by sharing some special gifts with the one he loves.

Originally, the ring Brad had given Katie was made of cowhorn (brought from Africa). Here's the surprise. In reenacting the proposal, the cowhorn ring was swapped for ... THE MOST. BEAUTIFUL. SPARKLING. SPECIALLY. CUSTOM-DESIGNED RING. By the groom for his bride-to-be! [Did I mention today was her birthday!] Even more special, the ring was inscribed with Lamentations 3:25, and made with diamonds from Katie's grandmother's ring, and from the ring her dad gave to her mom.

Katie couldn't stop looking at her ring... and rightly so - it's gorgeous!

One thing we love and appreciate so much about Brad, is his servant's heart.

While Brad and Katie were dating, I was always curious to see what the contents of the next package from over-the-ocean would be. Sometimes it was a letter and some pictures, other times a DVD, and once a homemade Candyland game. In turn, Katie once labored for hours in our suite lobby, making this puzzle to send to Brad. So when Mom spotted it in Brad's bag of surprises, I knew it was one "prop" I wanted to use.

summer days @ the beach | hua hin, thailand

Our last weekend in Bangkok, we all loaded up in vans and headed to the beach. While we loved being in the city, with all the people and the hustle and bustle, it was definitely time for a bit of rest and relaxation. With that in mind, Hua Hin was exactly what we needed.

We heard about a place on the mountain where monkeys ran wild. Although I wasn't able to understand completely, I think it has something to do with a special wat (temple) that is on the top of the mountain. Regardless - we had to check it out. There were literally HUNDREDS of monkeys - running all over the place. One even walked right up and stole a ping pong ball out of Kyle's backpack!

(Despite what it looks like... I didn't get that close.)

In Thailand, the King and the royal family are revered by all the people. You'll see pictures of the king literally everywhere. Below is just one example...

For those of you who know me... you'll understand that this next picture is a big deal. Why? I'm standing... in the... OCEAN. And get this - I went out all the way up to my shoulders! (I'm a great swimmer, it's just that I am a bit uncomfortable with the idea that I'm sharing the water with certain... creatures.)

What better place to play ultimate frisbee, than on the beach?

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful location. The morning we were there, most of us girls woke up very early to go down to the beach and watch the sun rise. Unfortunately, the sun rose behind the mountain. However, even better than a sunrise - I was walking along the beach and glanced up to see the most beautiful rainbow stretching right across the hotel! It was a wonderful reminder of God's promises, not only for my life, but also for the whole of Thailand.

Mark quite enjoyed relaxing under the palm trees. :)

And of course... I had to get in a few shots of my favorite Bangkok residents, Asher, Roger, Courtney, and Baby Jack!

My new favorite animated movie is Tangled, and I especially like the scene with the floating lanterns. So naturally, when I caught sight of these huge, beautiful, floating lanterns flying away over the ocean, I instantly got excited.

Josh & Sarah | 7.21.11

We now know where Whitesburg, KY (Letcher Co.) is! What extraordinary scenery! Incredible mountains! We loved it and the people we met! Those two words ... extraordinary and incredible don’t suffice to describe the day ahead! But before we even begin, I feel as though we should just go ahead and say it. Thank you. To Josh and Sarah. Some of you have known them certainly longer than we have, yet in this short time, our lives have been so enriched by them. Yet, it even goes beyond that. What a great privilege to meet their families and their friends. Josh and Sarah love people ... of all ages. And they are dearly loved in return! So evidenced by those who participated with their presence and those many who gave of themselves and time to make their wedding day a celebration with memories for a lifetime!

So thank you Josh and Sarah for including us! We felt welcome from the very beginning! (Wouldn’t you if you arrived at your place of stay and discovered this! They thought of everything!)

Even though the evening before had been overcast and rainy ... (loved the fog on the mountains!) ...

... the morning would bring lots of sunshine. AND, the day would be filled with beautiful details,
some tears, and much laughter.

Several times throughout the course of getting ready for the day ahead we heard Sarah's exclamation (as only she could do it) ... and this time I caught her expression.

“I’m getting marrrrrrrrrried today!” [Sarah]

In nothing are we as rich as in our memories;

they are pictures painted by our hearts,

Everything about the day was extraordinary. THIS was priceless. Sarah's dad waiting to see her.

The moments that followed are certainly to cherish.

Josh. We liked him from the time we first met a number of weeks ago. Always smiling. And, on this day, we discovered he was very resourceful. The guys had SOME set-up... several tvs hooked up with video games. Hilarious! And since they were getting ready in the choir room, it just seemed natural that there should be a "maestro" at the piano. (A one-finger melody I recall.) Such great friendships among the guys!

Yes. These are the "men in black."

Definitely a sense of anticipation don't you think?

Finally, it was time to get a few shots outdoors. Rather warm out there. Did I say that it was
soooooo hot! We love these!!

A favorite! Loved the enthusiam of EVERYONE!

A perfect place for a reception for two teachers! The school cafeteria! Not like any one we'd ever seen. Especially after Sarah and Co. put on the finishing touches! I have an idea that Josh and Sarah will continue to make a huge impact in the lives of the students whom they come in contact with!

Flying high. Huge applause and cheers as they made their entrance! I think Josh likes it!

The details were lovely! From the magnolia centerpieces to the personalized square in the middle of the floor. And the food ... delicious!

Just a little sweet honey from Josh and Sarah to each of their guests. I'm not for sure, but between the two of them, I don't believe there was anyone who went unhugged by one of them. Their arms were wide and their love was big for family and friends.

Okay. So we knew the evening would wrap up at some point. You can't see the phenomenal fireworks show that started up as Josh and Sarah were exiting! What a great idea! And just look at that Sarah. She is still sparkling!

Josh and Sarah so pointedly chose every aspect of their day to bring honor and glory to the Lord. Truly, that was reflected in the music so beautifully played during their ceremony.

In Christ alone, my Hope is found

Josh & Sarah | Engagement | 6.25.11

For a while now, we have watched some of our favorite lifestyle photographers incorporate into their sessions a variety of props which reflect a little about their clients. We like that! It’s fun! Fun for them. Fun for the photographer.

Sometimes though, it's hard to get people to do out of ordinary things. We have the idea it’s all about ... "look at the camera and say cheese." With that said, you won’t believe what going into the little antique store up on Main Street triggered! Jill and I hadn’t been in there two minutes until we saw this stack of old books. What could be more perfect for two teachers! [Poor Sarah and Josh had no clue what they were in for!] Along with the books, we added (of course) blonde brownies - sorry about the chocolate Sarah - plus our version of strawberry lemonade, and a little table right out there in the middle of what once was known as Iris Hill. For those of you who enjoy history (we do), THIS is Daniel Boone country! Don't imagine he ever saw anything like this. :)

Making the choices for this blog post was really tough!

We had to include several of these in front of this old church.

This one is at the top of our list to be a favorite image!

The weather was predicted as rain. ALL DAY. As in thunderstorms and even hail. So thankful that the clouds scattered, and with it came blue skies! Love the reflection!

A note from [our Mom] ...
Dear Sarah and Josh,
At times, I will pick up some of the various pictures Jill has in frames sitting on a little stand near her bed. One recently caught my attention with this title ... “UC Family Group ‘09." Sarah, YOU were in the group with those girls! As I looked at that picture and then I looked at these, I realize once again how quickly moments pass that will never come again. And that’s what makes these next ones so precious. Love each other deeply. Before you know it, tomorrow is today, and today is yesterday. - Carole

This was the sweetest session! Our first look at little Riley. And boy did she scrutinize our cameras!

Talk about coming "equipped" with fun things!

Riley loved the fun and play with Dad and Mom. What a gentle spirit came inside this

adorable mint green dress, which was soon splotched with bubble solution! No worries though.

We have a special place in our hearts for these boys! They were one of our first opportunities for pictures when we moved from Indiana to Richmond. [Jill had just graduated from high school and I was a freshman.] Naturally, we had to pull out one of those pictures for you to see.

You are not going to believe it, but look now!

Yes, they’ve grown, but still possess the sweetest personalities!

And, their blond hair and blue eyes! :)

Now to introduce the newest little man to the family.

(All three boys with a first initial of M. - Manning, Matheson, and here he is ... Mason!)

Get a load of his fine buggy (borrowed from a friend!) Little Mason could not figure out

what in the world that camera was doing in front of him. His expression says it all!

So we'll just look the other way, he decides. Maybe she'll go away!

Remember we’ve laughed before about how hard children try to please you with their posing, their best smiles, and any other suggestions you make. We cracked up over this! Know there’s a baby there somewhere. :) And, to the boys' defense, they were following our instructions.

Each day offers us the gift of being a special occasion!

One thing we have observed. These three boys along with their little cousin are sooooo loved and cherished by their grandmother! And boy do they love her! So these are especially for her. So glad to have cousin Madelyn (notice the first name initial:) jump in there as well!

Just a little dictionary lesson:

We really gave these boys a workout ... smiling is hard work! Finally, we heard this little voice ... "Are we done yet?" Nope. One more! Love the way Matheson is looking at big brother. Almost looks like Mason is saying ... "This HAD better be the last one!" :)

Walls Wedding | 6.5.11

What a joy to be apart of this wedding day! If you weren't able to make it, we hope these will help you catch a glimpse of the day and feel the enthusiam and excitement it held. So we'll start at the beginning ... with Jody.

Our timing couldn't have been better. As we turned onto this farm, here they came. First group of bridesmaids. Do they seem enthusiastic to you? Just so you know, this day was fun ... from start to finish!

A most beautiful wedding location!

Now this is style! Enter Dillon [naturally in the driver's seat] and groomsmen.

We love Dillon! A young man desiring to know and follow the Lord!

And one with a huge caring heart for people of all ages!

Love this image! It portrays the warmth and kindness you find in Jody. She is so sincere!

No ordinary bouquet! Jody worked for months and months, gathering old brooches, pins, and jewelry from her family. Those pieces made up the center of the bouquet - and white carnations surrounded it. [The bridesmaids made their own bouquets together as well.]

Jody and Dillon chose to make this a "barefoot occasion." Many of their friends from the University of the Cumberlands arrived barefoot as well!

Earlier in the day, while hurrying to move the guys around, Mom failed to get all the words of her instructions spoken, which came out ... "Hughston (best man), we don't want you [hidden over there]. Instantly, there were choruses of "Hughston, we don't want you." That became a popular phrase. Sorry, Hughston. :)

We have to compliment the groomsmen. Always so full of pose ideas and expressions - I could barely keep up!

Dillon and Jody chose to get married at Hopewell Farm, in the same spot Dillon's parents were married.
That fact made the day all the more special!

The expression of the groom as the bride walks down the aisle is always one of my favorite things to look for. Dillon's was priceless. I especially like that you see Dillon's brother, Lucas, watching Dillon as Jody comes down the aisle.

The wedding party was so much fun to work with! They needed no coercing to laugh, smile, or ... jump!
What you see is an absolutely loved bride and groom surrounded by friends.

SIDE NOTE: I need to take a break to point out once again the reason why we (Jill especially) do our best to stay behind the camera. :) Seems to be having a little difficulty focusing here.

One request was for pictures of each "walking pair." So neat that Jody and Dillon printed on their wedding program what made each one of these individuals special to them!

Jill's favorite image of the day: "I believe it best represents the closeness of the relationships within the wedding party. They aren't just random friends who like to do the same things - they are friends who build one another up, always encouraging each other to strengthen their relationship with Christ, praying for each other constantly. The group took a minute after the ceremony, and Kenny prayed for the newly married couple. For me, it was a highpoint in our day."

With the bridesmaids and groomsmen off to the reception, we had a few minutes with just Dillon and Jody.

Fun has U right in the middle of it!

Sometimes, love makes you act this way.

Remember us saying this day was fun ... from start to finish? Well, even in the middle it was that way!

If you haven't seen this done, maybe soon then. On the tables were jars filled with oil and different family pictures placed inside. (The oil serves to magnify the picture inside the jar.) This particular jar had a picture of Dillon's grandfather (shown with Jody) and his bride. Several occasions during the day we wiped away tears. This was one of them.

Braeden's 1 Year Photobook

There are a few jobs within our business that only one of us do, and designing photobooks is one of those jobs. There is just something about the process that makes Kay crazy, so the task falls to me. (Although secretly, I don't mind - I rather enjoy them.) Hopefully you've had the opportunity to see an example of the type of photobooks we offer. If not... I just finished up a book for one of my favorite little fella's one-year session - and it was just too cute not to share!

Ask us what the weather has been for the last four weeks on Tuesday nights and we can tell you! All we have to do is measure it by Justin and Ashton’s Engagement Session. In three words or less ... wind and/or rain ... we’ve hit it every single time! You would not know from these though what wind gusts we had on that first try!

In the meantime, we had a chance to consider the challenge of tall guys and short girls ... Mom even googled it. No help. We were on our own. [Side note: Even on this day, it rained thirty minutes before the session and the wind picked up!] We were determined it was now or never!

Not only does Justin have a contagious S.M.I.L.E. but a laugh to go along with it. Made us laugh to hear him laugh! He has so much fun no matter the surroundings. The evidence!

He’s from Prestonsburg, she’s from Paintsville. They met during high school while working at McDonald’s in Paintsville. Through Ashton’s encouragement, Justin came to EKU and is working on a degree in Sports Management. A favorite black and white!

When we started anticipating pictures for this engagement session, they naturally wanted to make sure we had some on campus. Remember awhile back we mentioned how you can pass things and never really notice them? Ashton is going to be an English teacher. Of all things, is this historic one-room schoolhouse on campus [hidden because it’s on the other side of the street] not just the perfect place for some pictures. And beautiful color choices, guys!

I would say session accomplished and just in time for your end-of-May wedding!

It was about 4 yrs. ago that I met Michelle!! The girl is nothing short of hilarious! I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her and being a part of her life. One of my favorite things to do every year is go with our youth group to camp for a week. We spend a lot of time learning and serving, but there is also pretty much non-stop laughter once we enter our rooms! [Michelle, we’ll miss you on our trip to New Orleans since you will be in Panama.] Okay, might as well just begin with a favorite.

We are excited for Michelle’s acceptance to Morehead State University this fall.

So thankful for the direction and certainty God has given in this final choice!

Nothing more fun than friends being together for pictures! Now for an action shot ...

When we first made plans to do some pictures of Michelle, her mom said that she wanted to make sure we had a few at the front of their house. So we’ll end with where we actually began ... home.

Mention Christine and the one word that immediately comes to mind is laughter! We did a lot of it Friday evening and had such an enjoyable time! There seemed to be a sense of "seeing the light at the end of the

tunnel" as students entered the weekend before finals.

Christine is an English Literature major who thoroughly enjoys editing.

Really, Christine!? You've got to be kidding. You really like editing!

It's funny, but when we're out and about, we don't really pay attention to who is passing by. Eventually, though we will hear things like ... I saw you all out doing pictures the other night. It was just shortly after taking these that a text came in to three of our four telephones. It's nice to be noticed!

Our Family Part 1 | 5.3.11

Thought we would take time for a personal post. When we started trying to remember the last time we took a nice family picture on my Dad's side of the family... we realized it was before Kay Lynn was born. Sure - we all group up in front of the Christmas tree or around the table every year - but it was high time for a real family picture.

Originally, we'd planned to go downtown on the square or up the road to a red barn that Mom had spotted. However, it was so cold, we decided to stay home and use the back porch. It was a bit of a circus... a group of us would go outside, take a few pictures, then run back in while another group stood out in the cold. First up ... the Tanner grandchildren. [Wonderful job focusing, Mom!]

Our Family Part 2 | 5.3.11

So the funny thing is, we're calling this Part 2, but it doesn't even have all of us (the Cobb side) in it. Over the summer, we'll have to add a Part 3. Those of you who have done pictures with us know that we always like to make sure there is plenty of time. You know, we're not rushed or pushed. So, we are usually not in a hurry, unless of course the sun is going down or we encounter other difficulties, like the guy in the middle [a.k.a. Uncle Philip]. His allowance ... "You have five minutes to take my picture, Jill." We don't really want to make this an example for the future, but see for yourself our seven and a half minute session. First up is a keeper for sure, don't you think!

So many occasions for celebration in our lives. This is one. College graduation. Is there a better time to get a few pictures to remember this milemarker by! Literally, we did this session between the morning "gullywashers" and evening storms. Can you believe it?

We're so excited for Stacy, who is currently finishing her last week of student teaching.

Through the years, I can remember times when we have said to Jill and Kay ... "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Fairly common question isn’t it? But, not one always easily answered without some searching and trial and error, right! Stacy’s enthusiastic personality leaves no doubt in our minds she will be a fabulous and very caring teacher.

I don’t get this opportunity to write about a session very often - actually, I think this is only my second time - but I just can’t help but reflect that many times our identity can become wrapped up in what we do rather than who the Lord has created us to be. We are so excited for His accomplishment in you Stacy!

The light was waning quickly, and I asked the girls if they had any last ideas for pictures. Annah piped up and said she wanted to get a picture in front of the crosses. As we headed that direction, Ella took off running. She looked back over her shoulder and called out, "I'm going to run to the cross!" That simple statement slammed against my heart. That should be our cry, our focus, our aim - in every moment of everyday - to run to the cross of Christ. The world tries so hard to distract us as we run, and unfortunately, often times, it succeeds. We might not stop following Christ altogether, but we'll slow down to a walk, becoming complacent in our relationship with Him. But, He calls us to a more passionate, focused life with Him!

We met the Taylor family at the Rockcastle Trading Company in Mount Vernon, Kentucky. We had been told it was a beautiful place with all sorts of different picture spots. Well that was an understatement! This old truck towards the back of the property was my favorite part. There's just something about old trucks that demand to have their picture taken. :)

I think we might have to hire Brad and Bailey. They were right in there offering a variety of picture ideas.

We thought it so neat that the occasion of this photo session was a wedding anniversary present

from the Mr. to the Mrs. Great gift, wouldn't you agree?

This family was ready for anything, including laying on the ground. We laughed though because one member of the family closed his eyes and said we might have difficulties getting him back up. :)

Often, we drive by things which become so familiar, that we don’t pay much attention to them. Are you like that too? Well today, one of those spots served as a perfect starting point (a.k.a. great location to block some of the wind gusts) for Alex’s Senior pictures. Can’t help but wonder in days gone by what laughter, conversations, and even visits might have transpired on this old front porch right off Main Street.

A couple of our favorites!

We couldn’t resist these of Alex. [Have to say, there’s a first time for everything.] Usually, it’s our younger children who bring along their special blankets and stuffed animals! These will surely bring a smile to your face.

So far, our spring has been wet, windy, and rather cool! We keep waiting for a day of sunshine in order to finish up our 2011 Seniors!

Thanks to Lilianna, we have now been introduced to a beautiful new location ... Indian Fort Theatre.

Yes. We know exactly what you will think. What sweet innocent looking boys. Wrong! These two boys are full blown rivalries with the Tanner girls - Jill and Kay - when it comes to playing Wii. Seriously. It's every guy/girl for himself/herself! AND, we wouldn't trade that for anything!

We love these boys! They're PK's [preacher's kids] just like we are!

This was soooo precious. They were so determined to do exactly what we wanted them to do ... hands here, head tilted this way, try a different smile, lean in, move a little closer to the tree. Even sweeter was hearing Luke (the youngest) say, "Here Aaron, I know how. Do it this way."

It's amazing. These boys aren't little anymore!

I first met Sam and Zack, along with Sam's mom, Lisa, last fall at Panera Bread just as they were in the early stages of planning their wedding. Immediately, I liked them. Still do. Even more now as we have gotten to know them during these last several months.

Their engagement session just did fit in those last days of fall! This little park just off the main square is where Zack took Sam when he proposed. The lighting was just beautiful. Perfect timing and perfect place.

We take no responsibility for this prop. Great idea having Sam and Zack carve a pumpkin, Lisa. This was no small task accomplishing this, but together, they did it! And what fun! A memory keeper for sure!

Both Zack and Sam were so easy going and completely settled when it came to being in front of the

camera lens. Getting to know them before the wedding was a perk for us! A favorite shot of the day ...

Dillon & Jody | 11.24.10

Jody is one of my best friends (and my suitemate), and I was so excited when she called me this past summer to tell me that Dillon asked her to marry him... and she said yes!

One of the initial ways Jody & Dillon got to know each other was working together with Appalachian Ministries. Each week they come to this park with other volunteers to meet with the youth in the area, leading Bible studies, playing games, and simply loving the youth.

Mom and Kay brought this huge bouquet of balloons from Richmond. The colors were perfect.

Personally, I feel like this next shot is the one that should go in the invitations.

Look closely - I feel certain you'll agree with me. :)

This trio of images is my favorite. I don't remember exactly what they were laughing at (maybe this was when I almost fell off the tire I was trying to perch on), but their expressions are priceless.

After a wardrobe change, we headed to a secret mountain-top location shown to me by my friend Brooke. I would tell you where it was, but Brooke has made me promise to keep her secret...

Usually, our clients don't see their images for 2-3 weeks. However, when that client lives with you - it's difficult to keep them waiting. As I was downloading the images, Jody casually sat down beside me. After a while, I let her watch, and this next image was our favorite.

Four years ago, right before we moved from Indianapolis to Richmond, there was a girl from our new church who began e-mailing me. We quickly became fast friends, and have been ever since! :) Deborah has always told me that I would be the one to take her senior pictures... and finally - I did!

When we first talked about ideas for Deborah's pictures, she mentioned a hat. We completely forgot it until right at the very end. Some people just look great in hats!

Lightpainting | 11.18.10

When Kay and I had the opportunity to go to Orlando this spring and attend the PhotoshopWorld Conference, we went to a workshop about lightpainting. If you've never seen it before, basically, you use flashlights to "paint" a scene in the dark. We have played around with it a few times, but never with a lot of success.

Then, a few weeks ago, I got the urge to make another attempt at lightpainting. So I gathered a few friends and we headed up the mountain to find a nice, quiet, extremely dark spot. It took a while for us to get the hang of it, but when we did - we got some pretty cool shots! I'll share two of my favorites.

The first, (pretty realistic I'd say) is myself, Katie, and Jody with halos...

And in the second, Keigan is happy, Dillon is sad, and Michael is mad.

The girls [Jill and Kay] said that if I made this fun and not an English paper, then I could write about Madelyn. So here goes. Three words: ball of energy. And that pretty much describes Madelyn's session!! :) From the minute she got out of the car she didn't stop moving...oh wait. There was this one time...

Wish you could have heard the giggles coming from Madelyn as

she played peek-a-boo with her Mom! It made us laugh too.

Time for a wardrobe change! Get a load of the boots. U-R-2-cute, Madelyn!

Of all the pictures the girls do, I always, ALWAYS love the ones

with moms or dads playing. It just doesn't get much better than this!

We told you, Madelyn was interested in this and that,

Mondays are busy days. It's the begining of the work week around here after 1 day off. One day!! That's all it takes to make your to do list quite a bit longer!! But, the Monday I met Katie was fabulous! I headed out to Panera for a wedding consultation, which I believe went quite well, considering I booked it. :) Next on the list was meeting up with Katie for her senior session. She rocked it out!! And she told me she wasn't very photogenic.

As most people know, mom comes along on our sessions as the official...well, everything BUT the photographer! :) This shot was her idea - gotta admit, it's pretty good.

Most seniors don't want a fall look in their pictures. But, Katie loves the fall!!

What a great job they did of picking three totally different looks. This outfit was my favorite!

These next two are simply...stunning.

For Katie, things are a little different. It's not sports she's involved in, but drama!!

And along with drama, she loves to read. When her mom mentioned

bringing a Shakespeare book well, this is what I saw in my head....

Braeden 1 year | 10.25.10

This is when we first met Braeden...

Look at him now! I couldn't believe it when I went back thru his newborn pictures,

such a sweet little boy. What an honor it has been to be a part of Braeden's first year.

I must admit, he is one of my favorite babies. :)

We just can't get over how big Braeden looks in this next shot!

Mrs. Holli brought along one of Braeden's favorite toys...a tunnel! The minute he got in,

I saw a huge smile spread across his face. :) Once he got to one end, he would just turn right

around going towards the other. I believe he was quite amused!

After being so good for a while, then shedding a few tears, he gave me one last

stare down as a tear was rolling down his cheek. So precious!!

Braeden loves his mom so much. He just decided to relax with her for a while, it was hilarious!

Last shot - a for sure favorite.

Mrs. Holli, thank you so much for allowing us to capture Braeden's first year! We have all loved watching him grow and can't wait to see more of you both.

Two brothers, two completely different personalities. Such a great session! You'd never know by looking at this picture that there is rivalry between these boys.

There's a sparkle in this smile. That's just what the color does to ya! :)

I mean who wouldn't be happy wearing orange?

Maybe that person would be Cole...

I don't know what you think, but personally this could be the next president of the United States.

Because Cole loves history, we couldn't resist a few pictures on the courthouse square.

Confidence is all about knowing who you are...a child of God, loved beyond measure.

We had a great time with the whole family (mom and dad were behind the scenes)! Looking forward to next spring and getting to do their family together.
